Hi all, I finally went through with my PM implant on September 8 after fighting it to the very end. For the last 3 months I spent way to much time reading about all the things that could go wrong and how this was the end of a normal life instead of looking for the positive effects. For all the people out there sweating and worrying and reading horror stories "just like I did" I was surprised at the simplicity of the operation, in my case the entire team was well organized and very supportive, I was awake for the operation and my cardiologist gave me a play by play of the whole procedure, you don't have to be awake I was give the option. I spoke with my cardiologist a few hours before the implant he could sense I was very stressed, he explained to me the procedure was like a bad experience in a restaurant, no one complains or writes about a good one, that made sense to me. I felt fine minimal pain, it was a strange feeling I admit but recovery was fast, released from hospital the next day at noon in time for college football games, went out walked my dog, the next day pretty normal activities just being careful not to overextend the left arm. Back to work on Monday this is where I could really feel the difference, I walked around for hours shocked to have a normal heartbeat, no skips or pauses or short of breath out of nowhere, all that had become " my normal" today is day 5 no leads falling out, no incision infection, no PM migration, none of the things I was sure that was going to happen. So if you are fretting this, relax, listen to your dr and prepare to feel better.

The best part of what you said is that you already notice the improvement.
A regular, dependable heartbeat is truly a wonderful thing.
like a restaurant?

I prefer to think of it like sex. Most people feel it's a pleasant experience but there's always somebody who complains they wanted to be awake for it...
Seriously it is sad that so many people stress over this. Yes there is risk but a very low one, and the vast majority are just like your experience, in and out and their lives are changed for the better. Now if only they could throw in a hair transplant with the CRT, I'd be happy
Enjoy life.

I had my 3rd pm fitted last week. I've had a pm for over 17 years . I don't give it a second thought these days.
