It's Out

After almost 4 years of having my PM last week Wednesday I had it and both leads removed. You can read my past posts but I unknowingly had Primary HyperAldosteronism (Conn's disease) and my left adrenal gland was playing havoc on my body/hormones/heart. Once it was diagnosed and I had it removed everything went back to normal. My EP had determined I no longer needed my PM (he was never convinced I did need it but it was put in after an ER visit with heart rate in the low 30's and he wasn't  the EP on call that day). After a treadmill stress test and a 5 month trial period of having it turned down so low it was basically just monitoring he asked me what I wanted to do. It was funny because I accepted my life with a PM immediately, had no complications, and lived my life forgetting I had a PM most of the time (except for airports and welders). But when he explained the value vs risk and told me the decision was mine I was ready to have it out. Surgery went fine - no complications. I was released Thursday morning. Saturday I volunteered at a Charity Golf Outing just riding around in a cart selling 50/50 tickets, and today I'm back to work. It hardly seems possible that it was that easy. I'm very grateful for my EP and also the EP that removed my PM. If you are near Grand Rapids, MI I can't recommend Spectrum - West Michigan Heart and Spectrum Meijer Heart Center enough.

I think most of us cannot imagine a day when we are told we don't need our device.  That and the fact that we have grown fond of our wired chest.  :)

Congrats Valley!!  Good job by your docs for figuring it out.

You know you're wired when...

You name your daughter “Synchronicity”.
