Hello,
I'm 20 years old and just got my 4th pacemaker put in. They used to all be sub dermal but we just put the new one under the pectoralis muscle to prevent future pacemaker erosion or other complications. Although I've recovered 3 times before, I'm having some different symptoms this time and just want to have some opinions. It's almost been a week since surgery.
first the muscle is sore obviously because they had to move it to place the pacer underneath and the scar is slightly longer
but I noticed this place right up the scar on my neck in between the scar and my collar bone that seems swollen and hard...it's tender to touch and seems to be where most of my soreness is coming from. Anyone had this before/can tell me it's safe?
Thanks

If it is more swollen, sore or red than it was a few days ago, if the incision oozes, if red streaks appear, then get someone to take a look at it. It's probably just the healing, weird things happen when they move things around and when they go in the same place over and over. I'm on my 5th. I asked for a zipper lol.
another thought, if the sore spot is on your neck, then it could be a lymph node. It's probably nothing but can't hurt to get them to take a peek and verify nothing is going on.

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.

You are well experienced with what you should feel/see after a replacement procedure even though the pm placement is a little different. I would get it checked in the drs. office. At a minimum they will give you some ideas to get some relief..
You being 20 yrs old and on #4 pm is an inspiration to all of us. Best of luck.
