Preventative mastectomy with pacemaker

Help!! I need a preventative mastectomy ASAP. I haven't met with the surgeons yet but I'm worried that they won't do it bc I'm 100% pacemaker dependent. My appointment is May 4th. Has anyone else had any experience with this? Tia...Joy

They'll have to move it or work around it. Your cardiologist will want to know what's going on, perhaps be involved, but I'm sure it's not the first time they've run into this.

Good luck to you.

Don't worry about pacemaker

You've obviously got some big health concernes going on. I'm sorry and will be holding good thoughts for you.

Being 100% paced should not increase the difficulty of the surgery at all. The opposite, in fact. Anesthesiologists lo-o-o-ove people with pacemakers. Their hearts are not going to stop suddenly. Why? Because the pacemaker will keep it going. All factors being equal, surgery is actually easier and safer for patients with pacemakers.

No one would choose to have a pacemaker, but there are some advantages to having one.:-)
