Defibrillator

Hello to all.

I had a lead extraction operation back in Oct 2016.

Its my Second set of leads replacement since 2005

Since my surgery my left arm from the top of my finger tips to my shoulder are swollen.

When im using my left arm cleaning/ working or just general use my arm swells up even more. To the piont my vains become larger.

The wound is still very tender but i was putting it down to a normal recovery.

But im a little worried regarding the swelling and pressure in my left arm.

Is this  normal or shall i be concerned.

Regards Linda

If you go to a ER thay can run bloot test to check  if you have a infection. I would not wait especially if you have a fever.

Do not ignore this....it's not normal.

It could also be a blood clot.  Why so many lead replacements?

Lead extraction

Thank you for your replies. With your comments i think i will see my cardiologist.

Reasoning for my two lead replacements are i would have to be the unlickiest person have have had two sets of faulity leads put in.

Device was put in in 2005.

In 2011 I received 2 shocks due to faulity leads. I had them replaced within 2 days of the shocks.

Then back in November 2016 i had my normal check up with my Defib clinic. The report we received back from St Jude was the device had tried to deliver 4 shocks in 6 months. once again to faulty leads.

My previous surgeries all have gone well with recovery. This is why i have concernes with the swelling of the arm post opp this time.

I thought  because it was a lead  exstraction it was more complex surgery. Therefore the post opp would be different.

Thank you for your advise.

I am no expert, but I believe that without the defibrillator that I have, I would be dead.
