After surgery

Hi, I had my pacemaker fitted on the 6th January 2017.  All went well.

It is now 2 weeks and I still ache a bit and also still sore . How long does it take to wear off.

Or is it mind over matter, because its a new thing i am concious of it.

Thanks  Jillygirl.

aches

It's not in your mind, you had surgery two weeks ago and now there's a little hunk of metal in there. ;) It can take 4-6 weeks or more for the last of the lingering aches to go away. It varies widely depending on our build, our tolerance for pain, where it was placed, how active we are. Ice should help.

PM Surgery

I got my PM on 1/9/17. There was some pain on the day after mainly from the incision but very little after that. I still feel like something was stuck in my body (which it was) but it doesn't really hurt. Just a constant knowledge that it is there. Not sure if that will ever go away and that's ok with me as long as it's keeping me alive.

I also got my PM on 1/6/17. My arm stopped aching altogether after 8/9 days, and I stopped thinking about it a few days ago. I feel postive about the PM, even more, now that we dropped the low threshold to 55 and the voltage from 3.5 to 2.5. That made it more comfortable.

However, I have pain and pressure in my chest and neck off and on regularly ever since - one day will be good, another will be bad. It only resolves with rest. I hear that the change to the system takes time... to heal, learn, adjust.....

About 2 months for me

I think I had actual pain (nothing crazy, but definite achiness) for about a month.  I could feel the device against my skin for about another month after that before I got used to it. I can still (a year later) feel it if I sleep wrong on that side of the body.  I wouldn't worry too much :)

You know you're wired when...

Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.
