Svt to Heart Failure( go figure)

Well hello my pacemaker family. I am so sorry I have been MIA; I come on everyday but usually don’t sign in... Well Now I have to because I have a problem.
Got my Adapta Pacemaker installed In June of 08 and Was feeling Great until Feb of 09 Had bout of A fib and everything went down hill from there, I had and Echo before the pacemaker and after the I got it installed to maker sure it all looked good. Then In May I started to get SOB and then real fatigue Went in HR average was 120bpm. DOcs were thinking maybe the AV ablation didn't take, July Docs switched me from Flecanide to Sotalol, and cont my Regular heart Meds of Diltizam 240mg, Baby aspirin, Metoprolol 100 bid. But however I was having these SOB episodes at night where I had to keep Adding more pillows under my head so I can breath, I mean I would lay on my stomach and have the Pillows under my chest so that my head would dangle off the pillow to breath, I was thinking maybe I have had Sleep apnea, So one night I woke up and Was SOB m I felt like It was the end, I ran took a baby aspirin and me and my hubby waited to see if it would subside if not we were going to the ER , so First thing in the morning I sent in a care link and I have over 2900 episodes in just Two months, went in to see the EP docs, who had me do an Echo, My EF was at 55%-60% and now 38%-42% I have all the moderate and mild regurgitations, So now they want to repeat the Echo, and Are Now saying that My remaining battery on my pacemaker is 5yrs when we installed it just last year it was 13yrs I lost 7yrs in one year. What the Hell... So my mom flew down for Aug, and we all went to my doctor, and I heard the word I thought I would never here, I am a 27yr old with a Heart of a 70 yr old person per my EP, that I have Mid Heart Failure, they want to go back in and remove the SA Node even though they modified it, and then place in a CRT with a third lead.
I'm a little bit upset; all this occurred from a stupid anaphylactic to stupid PCN that made me go into cardiac arrest and left me in SVT. Now per the nurse, I have Congestive Heart Failure. I am 20 freaking 7. He was like That he would place an CRT-P and I'm Like NO I want an CRT-D, I want the correct one in, I don't want them next year to be like oops we need to go back in, I have a three year old I want to see get old and have kids her self. SO other than That my question is I have no AV node and when they finish I wont have a SA node, Could I even get and CRT-D instead of an CRT-P, I am African American, I have Type 1 diabetes from Childhood, I am at a higher rate for heart disease, Should I push For them to Install the CRT-D. Would you? Any suggestions, or if any of you have a CRT in of have congestive heart failure your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Just really need someone to talk too, just last year; I was walking around in juntional rhythm now I have bouts of a fib, and now heart failure. Talk to you all soon.

Charly,
I am very sorry to hear of your difficult situation. I am in permanent A-Fb and have had my AV Node Ablated and a Medtronic ICD/PM placed and set up for CRT.
This took my EF from 15% to 45% and I am doing well all things considered. The CRT set up may help and seems like a possibility. Maybe you could get a consultation with the Cleveland Clinic just to be sure. Hang in there and try not to despair. Never give up and keep asking for the right answers. Best Wishes.

Mike
