PM surgery when pregnant

I am 33 years old and I unexpectedly had to have my PM changed when I was 17 weeks pregnant with my second child.

I really struggled to find anyone else who had been in this situation before so wanted to share my experience on this group. Obviously all involved were very concerned regarding the baby but the operation was a great success .

I had to go under general anesthetic as my PM is located under my chest muscle so as to not be so visible and so my cardiologist felt local anesthetic or conscious sedation would have been too traumatic for all involved.
There were limited drugs I could take for pain and could take no anti inflammatories at all, but after 8 days I had bounced back and was feeling 100%. My baby is doing well and have had no complications caused by the operation , pacemaker or any of the anesthetic to my baby ! I am back into the full swing of life before including dealing with a toddler wanting to be carried around and lifted up and down !

That is wonderful news! I am so glad it turned out alright! I guess there is not much you cant do with a pacemaker. Being a newbie I am glad about that.  Hurrah!!

Great news

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
