Hi all , I'm 42 and had a dual chamber implanted on march 7th 2016, after being promised the usual that I would be feeling like a new man after a while I'm still having severe complications , the pacer was turned down to its lowest settings due to myself being sensitive to pacing , I recently had a test and all is well with the pacer only pacing at 8 % coming down from 37%. All this sounds great but I actually feel terrible , I have severe dizziness and palpitations which have been with me since day one which are gradually getting worse . I was admitted back in hospital a week ago with bad chest pains to be told I may have pleurisy and to take ibuprofen. The chest do get bad and I have stopped drinking alcohol now although I didn't drink a lot but the pains in my chest and arm seemed to worse when I did drink , I'm obviously concerned as when I do go back to see specialist they tell me all is ok but i no my body and I'm telling you it's not , bad beaches have now started to happen aswell , I just wondered if anyone had any advice or was going through similar experiences. Many thanks , Dave

If your doctor doesn't listen when something is wrong or doesn't communicate well, then it's time to find a new doctor. Nothing says we have to stay with the same one forever.
Question... how did you feel before they changed the settings and your pacing percentage dropped so much? There are other things they can tinker with that you won't feel so much, but perhaps you need the extra pacing? Just a thought. It's good to not pace too much, but otoh, don't turn it down so low that you aren't getting what you need.

Thanks Tracey , I could feel the pacer a lot due to the bottom half of the heart being very sensitive apparently and to be honest I went through about 3 weeks of being ok then the symptoms started again and carried on to date , I'm not sure if it's the actual pacemaker as they've said it's fine or wether some sort of anxiety has kicked in , I went back to work ( physical work) after 5 weeks post op and all was ok until I started to feel the pacer , dizziness and blackouts then accured . I've now got a pain or not even a pain more like an adrenaline feeling in my chest and arm which as I said gets worse after different triggers which maybe leads me to believe it is something to do with anxiety . Apart from this my life is good and generally am not a worrier but this is now getting me down . I've made an appointment with my doctor to then refer me to my local cardiac rehab to see if this sheds any light .
frustrating

It's frustrating trying to get all the kinks worked out as we heal! Don't underestimate anxiety, it can really wreak havoc on us. One thing for sure tho, blackouts and dizziness are not at all normal! Have you had a tilt test? Sometimes heart rate is only part of the problem, bp can be a factor also. Tilt test will rule that out.

I've had a tilt test and that's come back all ok which was sort of annoying if you no what I mean , back to square one

You should go to cardiac rehab, and do whatever else it takes to find some relief. That includes finding a new Cardiologist/EP.
Whatever it takes.
