BP and diabetis

Hai, I am of age 54 years and a diabetic. 25 days back (i.e. on 14.12.2016) I got implanted a pacemaker. Now my BP has gone up to 100/140 and blood sugar to 120 during fasting and PP 260. Is it a problem with pacemaker?

Hi!

I think you may have your blood pressure typed backwards.  The top number is always higher than the bottom.  The top number is your systolic pressure and shows how much pressure is put on the walls of the arteries when your heart contracts.  140 is considered hypertensive, but is acceptable by many physicians.  I would be more concerned with the bottom number being 100.  That is the systolic pressure and shows how much pressure is put on the walls of the arteries when the heart relaxes.  Most MD's prefer that to stay under 90.

As far as the blood sugar the ADA recently changes there numbers.  It use to be that 80-120 fasting was acceptable.  Now 120 is considered pre-diabetic, but you already know that you are a diabetic.  Now 260 PP is way too high.  200 is usually max.

A lot of this could be related to the stress of having the PM implanted, but if I were you and especially since you are concerned these numbers must not be your norm.... I would call my cardiologist, PCP or both.

Will be praying for you.  This is a new world for all of us.

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
