Our business uses a Southern Linc radio, we also occasionally use a CB radio. I know that I read somewhere that we cannot use a Hamm radio, but what about the Southern Linc or CB?
Thank you

ERPM: a new App for pacemaker and ICD recipients.
by RDL79 - 2017-02-09 04:28:09
Dear All, I want you to know that on Googleplay store there is an Android App named ERPM. It gives you a lot of answers! You will like it!
The acronym stands for “Environmental risks for Pacemaker and ICD” and it is an application for pacemaker and ICD recipients. This application has a list of objects that you can encounter, in the home - or outside - environment, or some diagnostic and therapeutic procedures usually present in healthcare environments. All of these are potentially able to generate an electromagnetic field that can affect the proper function of your pacemaker or ICD. For each area (at home or outside) you will find environments (like kitchen or bank) in which you will see numerous items listed; similarly in the healthcare area. Not all listed items are potentially risky and this will be indicated by a color code. A tutor will always be available to remind you of the meaning of the color codes. The App also has an item search system and moreover, it will give you the opportunity to tell an object not found in order to find it in future updates.

Mostly rumors

Most of the stuff you read about pacemakers and radios is just rumors. The radio frequency is the wrong frequencly to bother the PM so you don't have to worry about it. The PM is switched off for reading unless you have the donut they use for reading so the communication side of the PM is off unless it is being read.
I've had people on the forum get very angry with me when they've tried to tell me their PM is being affected by retail store security devices and I tell 'em I don't believe them. Was at a store last Christmas where the security was going off all the time due to the sensors on the clothing next to the door. I went in and out several times and my PM didn't do a thing except keep on working.. I've even grabbed a hot 110 volt wire, gotten a shock, and my PM just kept on working.
One study by the University of Michigan indicated an EXTERNAL pacemaker could be bothered by a radio signal when it was about 10 feet from the signal. But the only external pacemakers of which I am aware are those used in a hospital under controlled conditions. In the same study they indicated the radio signal had to be 1.5 inches away from an INTERNAL pacemaker. The study didn't say how strong the signal had to be. I've been around all kinds of RF but never had a transmitter as close as 1.5 inches so never have been bothered. And I don't know how old the UofM study was.
So you don't have to worry about using cell telephones on the same side as the PM, CB radios, shortwave radios, cell telephone towers, TV broadcasting towers, radio broadcasting towers, Arduino microcontroller boards, Raspberry Pi microcontroller boards, communications boards for Arduino and Raspberry Pi, desktop computers, laptop computers, tablet computers, I-Pads, or just about anything else.
Some people have indicated store security systems have been set off by their pacemaker. But they didn't say their pacemaker stopped working or they had some symptoms of their pacemaker not working. And there's nothing to say something else the person was carrying or wearing set off the security. So it's a case of the pacemaker affecting the store security system and not the other way around. I've never seen any recent scientific study that indicated pacemakers were affected by any store security systems. Mostly people search the Internet, find a study and quote it as gospel. But then you find out the study is over ten years (or more) old which makes it hardly relevant.
So I wouldn't be concerned about RF. Go out and enjoy your radio life.
