Not healing!

Hi All,

Ive had my pacemaker in for 15 days now and the scar is just not healing.

It was orginally glued which opened up after 5 days. My doctors left the dressing off at my wound check (7 days after input).

I ended up back at the hospital yesterday as 2 stitches had pushed through the wound. The doctor then cleaned the wound up, tried to close it together abit with steri strips and then put a honeycomb plaster over it. He said to keep it covered until my next appointment (1 weeks time). However the plaster has come off leaving a big red rash (im allegic to elastiplast but not normally these plasters) and the steri strips have blistered my skin around the wound.

Has anyone had trouble with their wound not healing and being terribly itchy! Its driving me crazy!

Thanks in advance!

Wound opened and not healing

by Nrshimla - 2019-08-26 02:15:58

My mother, 64, got dual chamber pacemaker implant in june 2019. In july her wound opened and few days later the device wires moved from their position and she was operated again for readjustment. In August, her wound opened again at home as her body was making too much fluid around the wound which was closed when we were discharged. Now the wound is not closing, and doctors told us that she has got papery skin and referred the case to plastic surgery unit where we were told that now they need to operate again and put the pacemaker under the muscles layer. We are now very confused and disheartened as the wound opening is smaller than a finger nail and we are looking for alternate  solutions which do not involves surgery.
