Hi everyone,
I felt so happy after finding this page :) finally i found a nice site to share and hear pacemaker stories. i had mine at the age of 14. i used to pass out a lot before that. but after i was provided with pacemaker my life has completely become normal. i did not experience any complications or issues after my pacemaker. i lived and i am living a very normal life. i am 24yrs old now. recently during my follow up doctor told me that my pacemaker is ageing and i need to replace the pacemaker. i will soon be going through my 2nd pacemaker surgery. i am curious about the recovery time as i am getting married on january. could any one tell me how long does it take to recover from 2nd pacemaker surgery? and how long do i have to take rest as i need to prepare for my wedding. any suggestions or comments are warmly welcome and will be much appreciated. thank you.

Recovery

With my last generator change I was in at 6 am and home in time for lunch. Piece of cake. Aside from the healing time of the incision, you can pretty much resume normal activities within a day or two. I've read a post on the list where someone went out to lunch immediately after being discharged.
easy

I'm on my 5th, replacements are super easy! Most of the pain the first time was from making the pocket. Most of the restrictions after are from the new leads. With replacements, assuming no new leads, it's just a matter of the incision healing. I got my newest one in February. Got lunch on the way home, did some emails for work, then took a nap. I've gone on vacation less than a week after replacements twice, tho I regret one of them because it was the beach and I had to stay out of the water.
Thank you all

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
Easier Than Initial PM implant

If your PM leads are still in good condition, it is a fairly quick and simple procedure that just involves surgically opening the existing pocket, unscrewing the leads, putting the new PM in the pocket and rescrewing the leads. Since the existing leads are already well ancnored to your heart wall, the post op instructions basically deal with protecting the incision while it heals and using precautions to prevent any infections. The surgical wound should be well healed in three to 4 weeks.
