infection

It's always a good idea to think about infection. If the surgical site has any additional pain, redness, swelling, any new puss or exudate and feels hot to touch it probably is infected and a trip to your doctor may be required.
Another consideration may be that because you have had a dressing on for a week - if any water has got into that dressing from excessive sweat or from showering and had the moisture sat against the wound it can cause the skin to break down, cleaning the wound with cool boiled water, drying the area with a clean towel and applying a fresh dressing over the area can prevent this. Ask your doctor for a couple of spare dressings if this is the case.
