Have a two lead pm and having to now get a three lead pm

I had a two lead pm put in on st pattys day. I was suppose to have a three lead originally but due to heart stoppage during the procedure, they had to abandon the third lead and settle with two. I now am having to go back and get the third lead due to the two lead not being enough. I am out of breath constantly and have swelling of the feet and legs. The flutters are very scary. Has anyone had he same procedure so soon after the first? I am very scared that I will not be lucky this time around. Any advice? I meet with my cardiologist @2 tomorrow...

You'll be fine

I know all the feelings, out of breath, swelling of feet and legs.  You will feel much better after the third lead is implanted.

From what you wrote, it appears they implanted a CRT but stopped at the third lead??  IF that is the case, they would only need to add the third lead as you suggest.

Others have had a 2nd surgery sooner than 7 months so feel confident that you will be fine.

It's normal to be a little scared before surgery.  I'm facing one soon too, not for cardio reasons but I too have a lot of questions.

You'll be ok....ask your Cardio any questions and concerns.  Keep us posted.

Four

Four...no not as in golf, I had four device surgeries in 8 months, for the geniuses here that's an average of one every two months. Still kicking so not really sure why you are concerned about that. As Greatful said sounds like they'll probably just drop in a third lead. Should be quick and relatively easy.

It's probably the left ventricular lead which can be challenging but not a major issue.

Third lead not possible the regular way

3 weeks ago they tried to put in my third lead. After 3 1/2 hrs the doctor still was unsuccessful. I'm the lucky 5% with a flipped coronary sinus. Now on Monday I will be having my third surgery in 30 days. (. 1. Week ago had heart Cath to check for blockage) we are now doing an external lead. Attaching an epicardial lead directly to the side of heart. Yes it is a left ventricle lead. Just different approach. Scared to death is an understatement at this point. Has anyone had this procedure?
