My pacemaker incision has a puckered appearance. Most of the incision sites I have seen are flat. From what I have read, the ones that appear this way remain this way. When I went for my incision check, the only person I saw was the tech that did the interrogation. I asked her would it always look that way. She said yes. Has anyone got an incision with this appearance. Also Monday was 2 weeks for me. I still have pain at the site. Not terrible but enough to take something like a Tylenol. How long does this last. Somedays it hurts worse than others.

Puckered

Thanks for your comments. I guess by puckered, I mean like the skin is pulled together, like a drawstring. It is raised. It does seem to hurt more depending on how much I do. And I had no idea these things would ache that long. More of an annoyance. Mild in comparison to what some have written about. I was just curious. Thanks again.

Two weeks is WAY too soon to judge! Once it's closed, keep it moist and out of the sun for 6 months to a year. That's how long it can take for them to flatten out and blend in. I had a plastic surgeon tell me it doesn't really matter much what we use as long as it's natural (i.e. not full of chemicals). I use a vitamin e ointment.
Try ice for the pain. I found that worked as well or better than meds.

Be gentle with yourself emtionally too. Healing takes longer then the doctor says..........

Scar Appearance / Pain Post Op

Scar Appearance - I think my scar, now 8 weeks post op has improved in appearance since 2 weeks post op. I wouldn't describe mine as puckered looking though.
Pain at Incision site - I notice that when I'm more active my site aches more. (Jogging really seems to make it ache) However the pain/aches are less and less as the weeks go by. So I think you will notice improvement also, which is something to look forward to!!
