12 days now

It has been 12 days since my surgery. Finalyl felt like cooking last night. I slept last night how I usually did on my day off. Correct hours and everything. The new heart rate seens strange to me. I feel it pick up when I wake up. It feels strange and honestly I am not used to it yet. Doesnt feel normal. Although I guess it is more normal than what I had. I try to tell myself this is how it is supposed to feel. This is the feeling of getting more blood pump out as it should be. Since I wasnt sypmptomatic before, this is a strange new feeling. Did you all remember feeling or being more aware of your new heart rate?

Aware of Heartrate

Oh definitely, I was much more aware of my new heart rate.  I've had times where I could actually "see" my heartbeat while looking at the pacemaker area.  Many times I just feel  different and take my pulse to see what my heart rate is for peace of mind.  The first time I  jogged after surgery, I took my pulse afterwards and it was 150!  I was so excited because with heavy exercise I could only get it just up over 70 before surgery.

Give yourself time, 12 days after surgery you are still adjusting to being paced.  I know I was doing much better the second week, but not back to normal yet by any means.  We are all so different in our healing and I hope you just keep feeling better and better as the days and weeks go by!! I'm sure it felt so good to get a good nights sleep!  Have a wonderful blessed day!! :)

New normal

This is your new normal. The only thing that matters is that you feel good! Especially when active. However, you do need to give yourself some time to adjust. I can promise you that in a few years (maybe much sooner) you'll forget you even have a pacemaker. That is the way it should be!

Sincerely,

David

Give Yourself Time

You are still in recovery, and you may still be in shock over this whole experience.  It is a Life Changer.  Don't stress, do what you're told to do, and see or call Dr. if you feel something is not right.  Do not be afraid.  After a while, as you adjust...you can "let it go" and concentrate on going forward with your life.  There are many on here who are veteran pacers, as always DO NOT HESITATE to ask questions.

I hope you a have a pleasant weekend.

Sincerely,  Laura

Life changer

It is a life changer. I never realized before what happens after the pacemaker. They talked for several years about putting one in befefore they finally decided it was time. I didnt realize about interrogations and all. It is amazing how interested you become in something when it begins to happen to you!
