When will i start to feel normal?

It's been 2 days and I have yet to be able to get out of bed except to go to the bathroom. I can only sit up in bed for a few minutes before I get tired and need to lay down. I sleep all day long and only awake for short times. When will I start feeling normal? Able to stay awake? Or even just be able to walk through the house? The PM was placed close to my armpit, and he told me the recovery would be longer. This was also my first time being put to sleep with anesthesia..

Things will improve

I thought the third day was the hardest. I know because of where your incision is your recovery will be longer.  It was my first time with anesthesia as well. Healing takes a lot of sleep. It will get better. Keep taking pain med on schedule. Use your ice and let your family take care of you.

Itching

How did you handle itching around your bandage? Mine is beginning to itch like crazy and it is so annoying. When are you allowed to take the bandage off and let it get air?

Had some itching not alot. I just had steri strips. I came very close to having the same site you had. The doctor asked me right before I went in. I dont know why I chose the one I did. But my scar is not pretty. I bet you will be glad in the end. I actually found my problem at about your age but my doctor then did not want to give me pacemaker because I was not symptomatic. Anyway to answer your question, I never had a bandage other than steri strips. If it bothered me enough, I would call and ask. But I bet you have to leave it on until your first post op visit. How did your breathing get?

Breathing

It is about the same, maybe a little better but that may be because now I'm not freaking out about it. I've also developed a migraine tonight, my first of one of those too. It might be caused by all the pain meds I've taken, as I've never really took anything like it before and definitely not ongoing like I have been. If I'm still having trouble in the morning with my breathing I will be going to the ER to be checked out.

What did they give you?

Chest XRay

by robinclaire93 - 2016-09-22 20:56:55

I am going back to my doctors office in the morning for my breathing issues, they ordered a chest xray and then they are gonna check me out to see if they need to make any changes to my device. My cardiologists assistant called me earlier and said it is very concerning that I'm having this much trouble breathing - I should have some discomfort and maybe even pain in the incision site, but shouldn't have any difficulty breathing. So I will keep all of you informed as to what they say tomorrow afternoon when I get everything done.

Thinking of you and hope all is well.

You know you're wired when...
