Firstr post Inplant Consultation with EP and St Jude Device Tech

Two nights ago I finally got my Merlin St Jude Transmitter up and running (my inplant date for my CRT-D) was July 18th).  Yesterday My EP's office called and requested my presence ASAP.  When I arrived this am I was relieved to find out that my problem wasn"t a broken lead or an infection at the wound site but rather the need for some tweaking of my device.  I left the office with my breathlessness problem resolved and feeling great.  An hour or so later we arrived in Sackets Harbor and had lunch.  I continued to feel good for about 30 minutes and  decided to stop at a grocery store to pick up a few things.  I  walked the 40 feet to the store and shortly after I got inside I started to feel pressure in the chest and light headed (no pain or breathlessness).  This condition lasted until I got back in the car and gradually subsided.  40 minutes later, when I got home, the symptoms returned as soon as I got out of the car and have recurred whenever I get up and walk around.  I called my EP's office and spoke to his nurse and she told me that sometime after a tweaking, it takes the body a few days to adjust to the new settings.  I am to call the office early next week (today is friday) if the symptoms persist).  Has anyone had a similar experience or an opinion as to what is happening here?  I have read that the CRT-D device might require several tweakings before it is a custom fit for the recipient.  Please advise.  Sid

It's not at all uncommon to go back several times to get the settings just right. Sometimes we have to give it a bit of a test drive before we know if it needs further adjustments. They like to do changes in small increments.

The very next day after I posted my concerns the symptoms were gone - what a relief!  Sid
