Hi there I had my pacemaker recently relocated due to it becoming too superficial to the skin and was almost eroding. It was moved down and slightly deeper but not under the muscle as was original plan. My leads from collarbone to scar were slightly superficial before op but are even more pronounced now and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible they can perforate? I'm seeing my GP regularly as only 3 weeks post op and live in rural area but I'm not seeing my cardiologist for another 2 weeks and just wondering if anyone has had issues with the leads being too superficial in that area and if it has caused problems or if I should probably push to have them implanted deeper?I am a young busy mum with quite a few other health issues which have caused me to lose weight and work on our rural farming property.Any stories similar and what your outcomes where would be much appreciated x

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.

I'm now about 6 months out and mine became more prominent as the swelling subsided. I can feel the leads with my fingers but it hasn't caused me any problems. All of the swelling subsided and any sensitivity was gone at about 6 or 7 weeks.
I've not heard of anyone having them perforate.
The PM is implanted close to the skin to make changeouts (when the battery runs down) easier & safer.
If concerned, call your cardiologists office and ask them rather than waiting for the next appointment.
