Hello. I have 3rd degree heart block and got my pacer April 2009. I'll be getting a new one in a few months. I had an Afib-ablasion in March. all was going well untill 2 weeks ago. I've had 2 episodes of atrial-tachycardia. Cardiologist thinks my pacer is keeping up with my upper chamber when it begins to flutter. This is like rel-iving the panic attacks, constant anxiety I had the first 3 months after my pacer. Has anyone developed atrial tachycardia?

Thank you, your response does give me hope. I was taking 25mg of metoprolol twice a day, I'm up to 50 twice a day. My pm was reset to 60-100.
You know you're wired when...
You have rhythm.

Have had my PM for 18 months now for 2:1 HB and due to earlier damage to my AV node getting the PM setting balanced has been an ordeal. Developed AT from day 1 but spent the next year trying meds and setting changes but no permant or long term effect. The problem for me is the PM is part of pathway (retrograde) for the Tachy, my upper rate is only 110 and with other settings to try and minimise the events so I am for ever going into wenkebach as soon as I push my HR up, so long story short, heading for AVnode ablation.
However this is the end of a long series of trialing different things, so try and find a way to help you relax (easier said than done) but do try, and ask the person monitoring you what else they can change to try and combat you PM responding to the Atrial arrhythmia, its amazing how a little change in timeing etc. can have a big effect. Sometimes drugs work really well to stop flutter/fib, different for all of us.
Don't give up, deep breaths and good luck
