Still waiting for my appointment to get my AV node ablated for chronic Pacemaker reentry tachycardia,
Any idea how soon they alter your settings, guessing some will be imediate but was wondering how long "you" take to settle after this procedure. Will ask at the time but would appretiate any info.
Thanks Jane x

Yet again.
They did say it should be a quick procedure, so heres hoping it all goes to plan and for once I'm straight forward.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
Adjustments

The adjustments are made right away. I mean, you cannot cause a complete heart block without making any adjustments to the pacemaker, like different mode or changing the AV-delay. Only thing that is changed two to three months later is the base rate, because after AV-node ablation you usually program a base rate a little higher, for instance at 70-80 bpm instead of 60, for two to three months.
The whole procedure is a walk in the park compared to other ablations. Not even mapping needed. Took about half an hour for me.
Good luck!
