Hi everyone
I've had my pm for 12 weeks I got it because I had 2nd degree heart block type 2 which made my hear rate go below 40 back in Feb when I came downstairs for a drink. I had a holt monitor 2 days later whilst in hospital to confirm this. I'm 57 very fit keen cyclist and eat healthy. My pm is suppose to work when I have drop beats, delayed beats. My rate response is off as I don't need it to exercise. My atrium works 1per cent my ventricle 35. So in these weeks I have been back to my tech because every night I felt twitches, some strong, some go on all night and even when I'm relaxing. I cycle now 30 miles but know that it could kick in when I'm resting. I got so fed up with the twitches because first I thought it's touching the phrenic nerve to the diaphragm. They said no. Then I got them to lower my voltage, they didn't want too. I did get 2 volts but still had problems. So change my lower rate to 45 then to 40bpm .change voltage to 1.5 they put auto mode on to monitor this and self check. I only use 1.3 volts. So today I've had all auto modes off and my pacing threshold lengthen to give my own heart time to kick in. Rather than it kick in then my heart. Should all this work I shall sleep tonight. Should it not then my pm tech will get Boston techs in on my behave. Wish me luck tonight. But to everyone out there new to this don't put up with what you feel you are not happy with. Get answers to your questions. Learn about your pm and what it can and can't do. I want to say thanks to everyone on here who take time to help and answer questions . I have learnt so much from this site. It's good we have this and if helps us feel better and supported then it helps your quality of life. Pm are suppose to help us not hinder us. I know there are times I felt anxiety and depression. I'm still dizzy at times but that's because I have vertigo from when I collapsed. Short of breathe at times too. I put that down to leads pressing on my chest and a feeling in my throat when it kicks in. Try and stay positive keep going back until you are happy with your settings.
