Having total knee replacement surgery in a week and am very nervous about the pacemaker during this because they will use catherization and I'm scared it will mess up my pacemaker.

Having a PM is not really an issue to be concerned about. The real concern is what the Docs do to prevent a post surgery blood clot from traveling up your leg to your lungs.

Not to worry

I understand your concern. However, you should know that they will take precautions that may include putting your PM in safe mode. I had a shoulder replacement a few years ago and I had the same concerns. They had a PM Manufacturer Rep. (Medtronic) come in after the surgery to re-program my PM.
Frankly, I had a growth removed recently and they cauterized it. I forgot to say anything to the doc, but there was no effect on my PM. My point is simply that if they did nothing (which won't happen) you likely would be still O.K.
As long as the surgeon is aware that you have a PM, not to worry. If you want a little more peace of mind, just talk to the nurse and/or doc when you check-in. They will explain and put your mind at ease.
Sincerely,
David
