Hi all. Went to the pacemaker clinic a few days ago to check. First time here in my home town, as we were away for the winter when I had to have the surgery. So he was checking and all of a sudden I felt that familiar heart flutter. When I asked the doctor what was going on, he said he was doing a test. Okay, so then everything went back to normal, but he said that now it will remotely do the test every eight hours. Silly me, I didn't think to ask him for how long. It's a bit annoying as every 8 hours on the dot.....I feel my heart pound a bit, and my pulse speeds up. My hubby wants me to call the clinic and tell them to stop the tests. I say he must have a reason for doing it and I will give it some more time as maybe I'll get used to it. And I was finally feeling so good. UGH! Anyone having the same experience? Please comment. Also, finally the swelling has gone down (eight weeks later), but now I'm having even more trouble lying on my side, wearing a seat belt, etc. Looking forward to your responses. Have a great weekend. For those Canadians it is Victoria Day on Monday, so enjoy that extra day off.

Mine was self- tested every 24 hrs at 11.00 pm.
I didn't particularly enjoy the feeling so asked them to switch it off which they willingly did . The self-test feature seems to be there should you need it ; it really depends on how well controlled your heart has been since your PM implant

UGH is right! Some people don't feel that test at all. Some people like me and maybe you are extremely sensitive and yes, that feeling is awful.Knowing when it's coming helps, but it's still unpleasant.
Let your Dr know that you are one of the sensitive ones. Your PM is supposed to make your life better.

It made a HUGE difference in my life. Once I got it, I was finally able to run, and ride my bike long distances.

I have had my pacemaker a little over three years now and I've had that familiar heart flutter every eight hours every day since. I never had the nerve to ask what exactly it was doing, but I assumed it was some sort of diagnostic calibration or something along those lines. I get it checked quarterly and I've never had a problem, so I've always checked it up to nothing serious. Hope this helps. (btw, I am new to this forum).
