Dear all,
3 weeks ago I had a surgery, implantation of ICD (dual chamber, left side). I felt pain in the first week and it eventually did go away. It has been more than 3 weeks from day of surgery and now I feel a heartburn (my chest is burning, when I take a deep breath the pain is even worse) as well as this feeling of burning in my throat.
List night I also almost vomit.
Is this something normal that happens to few people or do I have to check with any gastro doctors? Before implantation of the ICD I didn't have any of these symptoms.
Thanks

Call your doctor. Heartburn is not normal and would be unrelated to the icd because it has no effect on your stomach. However, not being able to take a deep breath is the worrisome part. I could call the cardiologist first to rule out pericarditis or leads displaced, if they don't see anything then go to your GP to check our stomach.

I woke up one morning a week after implant with heartburn, and I felt pretty rotten all day. My Dr. called me two days later and said the bedside monitor indicated that I was in 13 hours of atrial flutter.
So no, take the time to ask the dr. about your symptoms.
