I just had my Biotronik Eluna interrogated. My atrial pacing had gone from 71% to 93% in a month even though we had decreased basic rate from 60 to 55 and CLS from medium to low. I would have thought I would have paced less. The technician says the increase is because I have been more active. Does that make sense? Is the increase significant or anything I should be concerned about?
He has now increased basic rate up to 60 and CLS to medium (60/130). He also increased sensor/ rate fade from 2 to 4 which I think makes my heart rate go both up and down quicker. My Mode is DDD-CLS whatever that means.
Any idea what I can expect to experience as a result of all these changes?
Thanks to Inga, I know to expect wonkiness for a couple of days while CLS resets itself. Don't know how I would have made it through my confusion and discouragement without all the helpful info I have found on this website!

Thanks TraceyE. I am one of those people who stresses less when I understand more. This is all so new to me and there is so much to learn. I feel worse than before the PM implant, but I think it is the rhythmol and Toprol that have taken the starch out of my britches. I know it will just take a while to get everything tweaked.

It can take a while to get the meds and settings just right! We need to be on a dose for a few weeks before they casn decide if it's good or needs tweaked again. It took me almost a year to get it straightened out. Settings didn't take that long for me, but it wasn't a one try deal either. Stay on them until you feel good!

The sensor/rate fading is only relevant for the accelerometer (motion sensor), and in your mode this sensor only works at complete rest. This accelerometer is just a back-up when you are in a CLS-mode. CLS uses it for a kind of cross-check that you really are at rest.
The sensor that drives your response when you move/exercise is CLS (without any cross-check with the motion sensor) and for that you can only program the rates and the response (very low, low, medium, high, very high).
CLS is a very dominant sensor, I do not know anyone with CLS who has low pacing percentages. It just responds much more quickly than your underlying rhythm.
With the response set at medium, you'll have higher heart rates more often. Mine was medium first, is high now, because with the medium setting my heart rates during daily life activities were often too slow.
Hope this helps. Best wishes!

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
numbers

I don't know anything about the finer settings of CLS, however, the pacing numbers are always going to vary somewhat. If you feel good, that's what's important so try not to stress over bumps in the numbers. There is no right or wrong number.
