New Treadmill

I got a new treadmill and some programs required a chest strap heart monitor. Does any use this with their pacemaker ? The programs are used to target your heart rate.

I have a Polar HR monitor. I use it with machines at the gym....no problems. Mine has been pretty accurate although I know some members have said they don't work well for them...try it and see.

I also have had the Polar TR 7 ( I think that is the one) since 2 weeks after my pacemaker, to avoid exercise induced heart block. It works well for me and doesn't interfere with the PM. Chest strap is a little uncomfortable so I tried a mio alpha that is a continuous rate without the strap. It is very inaccurate and I am returning it. The polar seems to be consistent and I think it is accurate.

Good luck with your workouts!

The monitor will not affect the pacer. The pacer may, however, affect the monitor. I've never been able to get them to work accurately.

Don't go by the numbers for target heart rate, go by how you feel. The charts don't necessarily apply to us once we're paced. I work until I can talk but not sing. Some days that's 120, some days it's 160. If I feel good and I'm working up a sweat, it's all good.

TomTom

I have a Garmin 310xt that was giving me some issues reading my heart rate. I switched to a TomTom device which has been working well for me so far. I like the look of the new FitBit device coming out soon.
