high heart rate and chest pain

post pm fitting I have found that my heart rate is quite a lot higher when I exercise. I am used to training with a h/r monitor and work in different intensity zones, so it has been easy to see the changes.
I am 3 months post pm now and these changes in h/r whilst exercising have not improved.
Today whilst cycling quite a hard session my heart hit its vo2max 180+ something it never did prior to pm being fitted even though I trained as hard if not harder. I also felt as if I was going to over heat and had some sharp central chest pain briefly.
Needless to say I eased off and cooled down.
Im okay now and have had no further chest pain.
I just wonder if any body else has experienced this.
I had my pacemaker fit for heart block and this only ever effected me off the bike whilst resting.
The cardio team have told me they are only pacing me if heart goes into block or if it dips below 40. Nothing else is switched on!
I think they think Im crackers!
please help if you have experienced this.

180 is high for me

Thank you Chris
180 is high for me. Im only paced if my heart dips below 40 or if it detects heart block, so I suppose there has been abnormal sinus node activity! My heart is just supposed to pace itself above 40 - but all I can say is that h/r goesvhigher more quickly and higher than ever before post pm.
The good news is that the hospital has asked me to download pm so they can see what is going on. As I had a loop recorder prior to pm hopefully they can see the difference and put my mind at rest or do something about it. And yes it is uncomfortable!
I have heard that you can go tachycardiac post pm, hope this isnt happening to me as I have felt so much better with pm, i dont want any more problems.

Is 180 BPM high?
by heckboy - 2015-11-12 10:11:55
Hi,
180 BPM doesn't seem that high to me depending on your age and fitness level. Maybe it's an indication that your PM is working correctly.
Do you have normal sinus activity or is your HR determined by your PM? There are controls to the rate response that can be adjusted if your HR is ramping up too quickly when you exercise. From experience, I can attest to how uncomfortable that can be
