I wear a security access card when at work, one that allows me to hold against the door lock & have it scanned to unlock the door. Does this interfere with my PM and do I need to wear it away from my PM area?

Hi Anna
I have a similar thing, only mine is like a little bullet, worn on a cord.
I asked school to check with the manufacturer. The answer came back:
Yes it is magnetic, but is so weak it won't interfere with a pacemaker and is perfectly safe to wear round your neck.
This is security access only, not an ID card.
If in any doubt, do what I did and get work to check with the card providers. It's only a phone call, sorted in 2 minutes. Jx

Thank you, SaraTB. I've just had the PM under two weeks, so I'm still thinking about and discovering things to do with it.

This is my second Christmas with my pacemaker and I am so happy to be with my family.
Should be quite safe

There's nothing in your ID card that can interfere with your pacemaker. I use one all the time, carry it in my shirt pocket in fact.
Think of is as like a bar-code reader in a store.
