Numbness & Tingling in both Hands

I'm about 3.5 weeks with this 2 lead Medtronic PM for 2nd Degree AV block Mobitz type 2. I was told by the doc when I checked out of the hospital that I can get back to activities but need to be careful for 4 weeks and avoid things that might pull the leads out. I get it.

Before the PM I was very active. If it was cold, I went outside and ski'd or rode my mtn bike. If it was 99 degrees and 95% humidity, I went outside and rode my road bike.

Now I'm just trying to take a walk or hike and I get numbness/tingling in my hands, sometimes in my legs and I get worn out easily. I called the Heart/PM nurse and she told me that is normal, it's hot out and you were probably dehydrated. I tried to explain to her that I'm not a couch person and it also happened at church but she didn't hear me. Then again tonight on a real slow walk on a beautiful night. It's not due to the weather or temperature or humidity.

Has anyone else experienced this numbness/tingling? It's in both hands right now, not just one.

At 4 weeks I'm supposed to be able to do activities without the risk of dislodging leads but I've got no where near the energy / strength I had before.

Dehydration

Before the PM my heart rate was lower. Post PM my heart rate was accelerated into the 60's. i.e. low rate was 60. Had the effect of making me feel better. But, my metabolism was higher. It was very easy to get dehydrated.

I could have a restful day, not drink water, and be dehydrated by the evening. I had to learn to drink what was for me, a higher amount of water than I normally would. I worked up to 1/2 liter per 33 pounds of body weight per day.

Before going on a hike, I usually drink a 1/2 liter of water whether I feel like it or not. It really helps. Just one of those things you have to learn after you have a PM.

I had the numbness and tingling too. But that was because of a longer stay in a hospital bed where my neck got all kinked up.

Hope you feel better soon.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
