Sleeping difficulty

I had pm fitted last Wednesday. Have felt very tired. But main problem is sleeping. I get lightheaded from time to time during the night and also sometimes develop a mild wheezy type breathing which disappears if I sit up again. Will this ease as time goes on?

Have you called

Have you called your EP's or cardiologist's office and told them about the wheezy breathing? It would be worth the call.

As for the sleeping, depending upon how you body reacts to the PM that can be a normal reaction.

For me, they kept the voltage higher for about the first 90 days to help the leads get seated. I could sometimes feel the tickle before the hard thump of the heartbeat. It would sometimes wake me up at night. You may be going through a similar experience.

Does it go away? Yep, in time it does. I started sleeping much better after they reduced the voltage. Also remember, they gave you anesthetic, cut you open, inserted a foreign object, and messed around with your heart. Your body is going to take a while to adjust.

Hang in there, it does get better.

Hope everything else is going well for you.

Most (not all) do feel tired after getting a pacemaker, but give it time as your body is adjusting to surgery.

Your concerns: the best advice I can give you is to bring them up with whoever is taking care of you and your pacemaker - sometimes the doctors have to be pushed a bit if what you are feeling doesn't go away.

Call your doc and see what they have to say...it won't hurt.

Take care,
Pookie
