Hello, This is my first time on here. I am a 34 year old female who got a pacemaker in 2011 for sinus node dysfunction. Since then I have had two ablations for fast heart rates and one for A-fib. I was excited to finally be done and start to wean off the meds but my heart had a different agenda. Most recently I developed A-flutter they called it and had to be shocked out of it. I am now once again having very fast heart rates during any activity. I already take Multaq, Xarelto, Florinef, Lopressor, and Midodrine and the doctor now wants to do an Epicardial Ablation. He said it is unlike the other ablations with longer hospital stay. I am nervous and unable to find anything about what to expect when you wake up. Any advice or experiences would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you

After 2 unsuccessful ablations for IST they did an epicardial ablation and I can tell you the pain for horrible at least for me but I also ended up with a pacemaker during the surgery. I can usually handle pain on a pretty high level but for me the first 2 weeks I was really sore then second 2 weeks it was better. After about 6 weeks I was ok. I was only in the hospital a total of 3 days. I hope this helps a little. Good luck! If you have anymore questions feel free to pm me
