Sleeplessness

I had my pacemaker fitted 3 days ago as an emergency. I'm quite sore and very tired but my problem is I can't sleep. I've only had 2 hours sleep a night the last 3 nights and feel very depressed. I don't really have any support and feel very alone. Did anyone else experience not sleeping? Thank you

I have had a perscription for a sleep aide for years...My Dr. seems to feel that at my age, the effects of no sleep out weigh the risks of the sleep aide. They gave me my sleep aides in the hospital and I was fine...3 weeks out and still pretty much have to sleep on my back, but I'm ok with one of my little pills.

Yes, I have sleep issues as well. I had my pm implanted 5 months ago today. I do not feel bad, I just feel so good I really do not want to sleep. I feel like doing something, but I really do need to try to shift my sleeping patterns so that I am awake during the day and sleeping at night, but it just isn't happening. I do take a sleep aide every night around 10 pm or so, but I just like being up right now. I listened to the advice from many on this site, and I know that it takes time to heal, time to adjust. We all have our own little schedules we must follow.

Thank you all

Angry sparrow, thank you so much. I did get some sleep last night and feel, better. Had leaky eyes this morning cos of my daughter's attitude - she thinks I'm pretending to be in pain and im making a drama out of it. I know how I feel and I will look after myself. Her feelings are not my concern. Have read quite a lot on here and all seems very helpful. Love your attitude

Thank you so much. It's so good to talk to people who understand and know I'm not going crazy. My daughter thinks I should be the same as her friend who had a stent insertion and was perfectly fine afterwards. Will definitely stay in touch here

Hi,
Well you have just joined a great group of women -
Pacer Chicks.

And all the feelings you have are perfectly normal. Don't let other people tell you how you should feel including your daughter . She might be in denial because she doesn't want to face you had an emergency surgery and it involved your heart. My daughters had a hard time dealing with it but finally were ok with it. My oldest however still won't tell her daughter's that their nanny had problems with her heart. Too bad because I could explain how wonderful it is to have little energizer keeping watch on my heart so I don't have to. You too now have that comfort. And once you begin to feel better you will be very happy to have that little heart guardian. Keep in touch here, great group of people!

You know you're wired when...

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
