Feeling yuk

I know its very early days, im only 2 days post op, but im presuming its normal to be feeling pretty rough?
I have no energy and feel sickly and just want to sleep all the time. The doctor said i should be ok within a week or so.
I know everybodys different but when can i expect to start feeling better?

...looking at your 'history' it is very difficult for anybody to make a constructive comment on your posting...

We all react so differently to having a device fitted..

Tell us a bit more and I am sure that a member will be able to give you some positive info..

Two days is still very early on, post PM...my guess is that you are in that period when you have been waiting for your PM.....itself a stressful time..

If you can,..just chill and do simple stuff at home..read..listen to music......

Take the time to have time off

If you have people around you..treat them like slaves...OOOOOH can you pick that up ?? ...OOOOOh could you make me a coffee ???

You will be just fine...

It can take a little time for the drugs from the surgery to get out of your system. Try drinking extra water to hydrate and flush out the effects of those drugs.

If you feel like it is getting worse, or not improving after a week, let your Doctor know.

Sounds exactly like I was @ 2 days. Puny, sleepy, exhausted, weak, and ragged. AND worried that something had to be abnormal.

By 4 days, I was awake longer, more often and felt a little better each day, with less discomfort and soreness. Drinking lots of water was the greatest advice I was given, also.

I went back to work with restrictions at 9 days, feeling pretty good. Even though I was on light duty, I overdid it and had a 2 day setback of sleepy exhaustion. With chest & heart muscle healing and pushing my leg, back, and right upper body muscles, after being "way down" before surgery, my bloodstream got overloaded with lactic acid. That reaction is also the body's defense--makes you so sleepy you HAVE to give the muscles a rest.

I consumed water and pellet ice continually and took additional mineral supplements, and hit an earlier bedtime and bounced right back.
I am almost 6 wks out now and began full duty Monday. I walk up to 10 miles per shift with continual bending, lifting, carrying and pushing. My back muscles are achy, but in a good way, I rarely am reminded of the PM throughout the day, and my spirits are wonderful. I have come so far so fast, and sincerely hope you will, too.

Hang in there, Janenotarzan

Seconding Janenottarzan - I just got mine 3/12, was sent home 3/13, and was totally miserable all day. I couldn't rest but was exhausted, was so sore it was hard to find any place to be comfortable, and was firmly on the draggin' wagon for another two days. My arm hurt too much to sew, I couldn't concentrate on even the dumbest TV show, and I wanted to drink constantly.

A lot of the swelling at the site went down on the first couple days, so I could sleep easier (us side sleepers have it rough, but I have no idea how a belly sleeper makes it through the first few nights !), and I guess the drugs wore off, but I wasn't in much pain at all after Friday. I started to feel more energy and slowly came back to me, then a bit of a better me.

I'm still tired a lot, and I'm lucky enough to get to rest when I feel I need to. I hope you do, too. I'm still not supposed to raise my left arm for three more weeks (arrgh !), but I've been cleared to drive and sew if I don't lift heavy stuff and keep my arm down.

It gets better. Hard to believe when you're miserable, I know. I hope you wake up tomorrow feeling fantastic ! Let us know how you progress, we worry. Take care of you for everyone !

Thankyou

Healing

Oh yes I felt so weak, slept a lot and no energy. Takes time and listen to your body. I did the same thing as Tattoo Man-listened to music, chilled and read magazines which I never take time to do. It does get better....I'm 6 months out.
Be good to yourself.

Bevlaar -

It just takes a while but if you're anything like me you'll feel better than you have in months in no time.

I had emergency surgery 3/22 after being in the hospital for 5 days. I felt absolutely awful the first two days. Honestly, for the first week I felt like a bus hit me in the chest and all I wanted to do was sleep. The incision is still sore to touch but the overall pain and soreness are gone. This week I'm feeling better than I have in the last 6 months. I haven't driven yet, but I've been out and about and planning on returning to work next Monday.
