Anxious about returning to full sport activities.

I am very unsure of when a person typically can return to full Sporting activities such as golf, front crawl swimming , horse riding , tennis, badminton etc.
I know one had to be cautious of aggressive over arm movements but how long does it take for the leads to be firmly adhesed in the heart or is it always a risky thing to pull the leads out?

Kudos for Desire to be Active

AngrySparrow1 has given you great advice. My own 2 cents worth, which I learned from trial-and-error & from persons on this site: Don't compare your own self/circumstances too closely with anyone else, but savor the knowledge you can gather from their shared personal experiences
Percentages are great guidelines, but are not a "one fits all" frame of reference. Suggest you read, search, listen, evaluate, then make choices most closely applicable to your personal situation. AND, be willing to re-evaluate and change steps, when/as needed. Best of.luck charting yourcourse. ~Jane

Re athletic return.

Thanks for the comments. It helps. I am nine weeks post pacemaker implant and when I had my 6 week checkup they said I could not return to my horse riding and jumping until at least after 3 months. I am back in the gym for legs but they still wanted caution with aggressive arm movements, totally banned front crawl swimming, golfing and said if I fell off the horse the leads could still be pulled out. I was pretty bummed as I thought after six weeks the leads were pretty adhesed down. I guess I will just have to be patient and wait the next three weeks and hopefully I can be back to normal.

One size does not fit

Per Jane, one size does not fit all. You've got to give the body time to heal.

Mostly you have to listen to your body. If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. If you push too hard, back off, use compresses and tylenol. Then go back to your activity when you feel better.

Hope everything continues to go well for you.

Kakaying ??

Hi, I got into kayaking 2 years ago and I too am wondering if after my 4-6 weeks of healing time, will I be allowed to kayak again. I am going to try and be optimistic about returning to the activities I love and miss. What I am learning on here is invaluable and from experiences of others just like me. Thank you all for sharing.

For the future

Resuming Golf

by robomom - 2015-02-28 12:02:26

I had my PM implanted August 2014 and was actively playing golf with my husband and involved in two women's leagues. I was not allowed to play golf again for 10 weeks, resuming late October.

6 months. Time goes quickly. Better to be safe then regret. Then you can do almost any sport.

Cheers,
