Thank you ,that is very comforting knowing that you raise your arm up more than I do providing massage.but I don't know if I can afford being off for 6 weeks.

I don't do the same work as you, but I can tell you that I was playing competitive basketball within 6 months of getting my pacemaker. My pacemaker has prevented me from doing absolutely nothing..........except maybe from getting an MRI! You do have to stay away from magnets!
You know you're wired when...
You can take a lickin and keep on tickin.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
Therapy and therapist

If you look around the forum you'll see in my posts and messages I heartily recommend massage therapy. I regularly see my massage therapist as a help for my pain after I received my PM. My therapist does deep massage.
After you get through your initial recovery you should be able to continue your therapy work. In fact, if anything, your training in massage therapy should help you recover more quickly. Mainly because your muscles have been built up from doing therapy work. If you do have pain, you'll be able to identify which muscles are causing problems.
After the initial 4-6 week period, you'll probably want to limit yourself to upper body massage. Then as the year progresses and your body strengthens you'll be able to do full body massage.
I'm guessing that, for the first six months, you may want to have another therapist ready to step in - in case you can't finish a session. Only you will be able to tell how you feel as you do therapy. I feel, at the year mark, you'll be at 100% of what you were (or better) before you had the PM.
Over all, I don't feel your PM will be a hindrance in your massage therapy work. Just the initial adjustment to having a foreign object in your body and learning how to work around it.
If anything, you can advertise to your client list. Let them know you have a PM and can do therapy for people who do have a PM.
Hope everything goes well for you.
