recovery

I'm at 4 weeks with new PM after aortic valve surgery and still am experiencing some discomfort where the PM was implanted. Feels generally uncomfortable but not really painful. I thought I'd feel better by now. I did have an initial checkup about a week after but won't see him again until the end of Jan. Is this normal?

I too am 4 weeks out and I don't see my doctor again until February, but I didn't have any surgery other than the PM. I also had my pacemaker checked a week after it getting implanted. It wouldn't hurt to call your doctor if you are concerned. I'm still getting used the pacemaker, but not uncomfortable.

I've had 5 implanted so far, and each time it hurts for about 4-6 weeks. You have to remember, they are cutting through your muscle. When someone tears or even just pulls a muscle it can take up to 2 months to heal or feel back to normal. I would call your doc with your concerns, of course, but the discomfort is very normal! Good luck to you!

uncomfortable too

I have had the same experience. My surgery was 60 days ago and it's still sore.

I had my PM installed Nov 21. 4 days before 51st birthday. I'm still getting tired easily, discomfort at PM pocket, twinges from time to time, still can only sleep on my back, and feel the PM pacing from time to time. Was told life won't change and the PM is just a backup. Wanted to ask Dr if he had a pacemaker. Life has changed and I'm constantly reminded I have the PM.
