General yeast infection problems

You will want to make sure you don't have an infection at the PM site. Please make sure you have it checked out.

I was on antibiotics for a long time. Would get patches on my skin that would itch. Talked with a doctor who practiced holistic medicine at the time. He indicated being on antibiotics for a long time kills off beneficial bacteria in your body as well as bad bacteria. The itchy patches were yeast infections.

He had me get three of the small containers of yogurt with the active culture. Yogurt contains acidophilus bifidus bacteria which is a beneficial bacteria. You see it advertised in the probiotic yogurt advertisements. For me, eating the three yogurt containers over a one week period cleared up the yeast infections on my skin. You can also purchase acidophilus bifidus in tablets at health stores.

Another benefit of the acidophilus bifidus bacteria is that it will cure cold sores. So if you get a cold sore, take acidophilus bifidus tablets and the cold sore will clear up in about three days. After healing the cold sore, you only need to take acidophilus bifidus about every six months - no need to take it all the time. If you need to take antibiotics, acidophilus bifidus taken while taking antibiotics will help keep your system in balance.

You will need to get your PM site checked out. Don't want an infection getting loose. For general yeast problems though, the acidophilus bifidus bacteria has worked for me.

Hope things get better soon.

Why a yeast rash?

Personally, being only I few days post op for you, I have never seen a 'yeast rash', and I have seen lots of post op. wounds. Candida ( the human yeast) causes isolated red spots, a bit like a thrush's breast ( hence the name), though in moist areas you get colonies of white ( as in the mouth and vagina).

Yeast infections are more associated with altered immunity such as diabetes mellitus,HIV, and leukaemia. Vaginal yeast is associated with altered pH (acidity) and bacteria, as well as cross infection.

It is unlikely you have a yeast infection. An allergy to the antiseptic etc. used may be more likely.

If the rash is predominantly over the incision site ( wound), I would presume an infection and seek medical help as soon as possible to avoid more serious consequences.

Rash

Yes I currently have developed this rash on my back, due to a prolonged use of antibiotics, also excess sun exposure contributes the the fungal growth. This is apparently a popular side effect.

I'm currently taking some medication for 3 days and applying hydrozole 3 x a day and 50+ sunscreen if i go outside.

The Dr said it should be clear in 3 weeks unless its viral, in that case I will need different medication. No rash around the pacemaker at all the site has healed well.
