4 months in...just ran 10 miles (16 km)!

Hi All,

Yesterday, (4 months and a bit after getting my PM), i completed the Phuket 10 mile (16 km) run... in 28 degree heat!

Admittedly, i was a bit slower than usual, but i made it! I'm so happy (despite the muscle aches) that i have got my fitness back, my PM didn't even blink.

Not so long ago, i didnt think i would ever be able to do something like that again...i was wrong.

Really enjoying reading all the comments on here...You guys rock! Take care Everyone.

Cheers,

Edward

Well done!! Congratulations. A pm can be a tool to give us a full life, it doesn't have to be an impediment. You are not disabled!

Appreciate the comment...since i received my PM, friends and family have been trying to wrap me in cotton wool...like i'm somehow disabled (they mean well of course), so it was good to show them that i'm still alive and kicking...thanks to my new battery powered buddy, a very skilled EP & the PMC.

Onward and upward!

Cheers, Edward

Hi Edward! Thanks for sharing! Who doesn't like positive news? I am a walker, not a runner, but I can clap & cheer like a pro : )
Hope you got a picture or two; If not, maybe next time?

Smiles, Jane

Thanks...

Great news....congrats. Getting my PM put in on Monday, and it's encouraging to see posts from fellow runners.

Congratulations Edward....now on to longer runs. The pacemaker is an aid to improve your performance.

I live in the Philippines and recently completed a 105 mile bike ride in probably 28 degree weather too. In fact I cycle daily usually 20 miles in the mountains. Forgot I had a pacemaker. Now it's been 2 1/2 years since implementation.

Cheers,
Keep on moving forward

Thanks again

Thanks for the encouraging achievement. I had just gotten my ICD on Feb 24, 2015. So a little over a month. I'm getting back to running as well. Although I'm being asked to run cautiously. I am looking forward to my half marathon in 4 weeks. I hope to hear more great news from you in Thailand!

I was able to do a six hours race after 10 months. Finding getting legs back in shape more trouble than heart. Just had pacemaker replaced with with a CRT-D Spent five weeks easy making share leads healed. Starting to train for a 12 hour race.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
