Hi All,
Went for my 4 month PM Interrogation yesterday and my EP told me that i'm now only paced 40% (was 90% at previous interrogation!) and batt should last 9-10 years!
Had quite a few SVT's but only short with max 162 bpm, he said likely Sinus Tach.
I dont look forward to the part where they test the PM during interrogation though! EP said my HR jumped 20+ beats just talking about it!
It seems like my problems were made dramatically worse by my panic/anxiety. But now i have turned the corner, thanks primarily to the people and comments on this site!
I have changed my diet, lifestyle and now running 10KM 5 days a week and feel like i'm getting my life back! 2 months ago i could barely get out of bed! Still have dizziness and still feel low on energy when i dont move enough, but feel like it is getting better every day!
I wanted to ask though, my EP told me that i should not play golf again and should not lift more than 5 kilos with my left arm...ever! Is he just being overly cautious or should i do as he says?
Thanks so much for the help everyone, its really appreciated!
Take care,
Edward

Hi Ian,
I guess the grass is always greener, i find myself envying those living in the UK. I grew up in Henley-on-Thames and used to run along the Thames also...I miss it
Thanks for the advise, i did think my EP (who studied in UK) was being overly-cautious having read some of the other posts on PMC...just wanted to be sure.
I sympathise with your golfing troubles...fortunately for me, i don't think it's physically possible for my putting to get any worse after the PM! :)
I know nothing about PM's really, but the Medtronic Advisa seems to be doing a good job dealing with my erratic HR, most of the time i don't even notice it....and i'm not passing out anymore, which is definitely a good thing!
Thanks again for taking the time to comment, it's really appreciated!
Take care,
Edward

The run I did Sunday was from Cookham, along the Thames to Marlow; so not far from your neck of the woods
I have done the annual 10K in Henley many many times and once did the Henley Half which included some interesting hills from what i remember ! Still rather be in Thailand though !!
I am very impressed by the Medtronic Advisa , it has an exceptionally good " Rate Optimisation " feature ( make sure it is switched on ) . This means that it watches your patterns of exercising and makes automatic adjustments to some of the settings . So the settings really do improve with time. My cardiologist says that PMs with this feature need fewer adjustments when you go for your check-ups.
I've had a PM for 4 yrs now and, interestingly had SVTs recorded in year 1 but they seem to have disappeared.
I sunk a really long putt yesterday so the putting feature on the Advisa seems to be starting to work at last :)
Cheers
Ian

I work out as well, do you still run and how are our work outs.
Thanks Lee
You know you're wired when...
You need to be re-booted each morning.

First of all , I envy you living in Phuket , although I must say it was fantastic running alongside the Thames this morning here in the UK !
I think that your EP is being incredibly conservative in suggesting that you can't play golf again. Once the scar tissue has formed which embeds the leads in place it takes a helluva lot of effort to pull them out, and a golf swing does not harm them.
Now that you are passed the 4 month mark, your leads will be firmly in place so you can go on the golf course right now , loads of us in the PM club regularly play golf.
For some bizarre reason my putting skills have disappeared since getting a PM but I'm sure that those two facts are not related in any way whatsoever !
Incidentally I have the same diagnosis and the same pacemaker as yourself.
Cheers
Ian
