If your PM is working as it should ,you should not faint because of a fall in heart rate. I assume that you told the PM people exactly when it happened so that they could look back to see if you had any strange "episodes"
But there are lots of different causes of fainting; low blood pressure and low blood sugar to name just two.
If I were you , I'd visit your GP and find out if something else was causing it .
I see that you are from Newcastle. I was born and bred in South Shields so at least we speak the same language !
Best of luck

Ian is right - one other thing

Ian is right but there was one other thing he didn't consider. I'm a Yank. Got back from visiting the UK in June. Great trip, wonderful people.
The one thing we couldn't figure out was why the bathtubs in the UK were elevated. You'd walk into the bathroom and the tub would be two to three feet above the floor. Needed a ladder to get into the bloomin thing. Talked to a guy who grew up just south of the Scottish border. He said he never knew why the bath tubs were elevated either.
So I'm thinking you climbed up into the tub to get your shower, had a sudden drop in oxygen due to the altitude difference, and blacked out.
Hope you feel better.

I was interested in your comments on bathtubs. Because we have always had them a few inches above floor level we don't see anything unusual about it.
Apparently it is a European thing rather than just the UK and is probably connected with our plumbing. I have noticed in the US that you don't seem to have waste pipes on the outside of houses which we do ; so different countries have different plumbing systems.
Let us celebrate our differences , while you are all gorging yourselves on turkey this week, we in Europe are doing character-building ,muscle-developing exercises getting in and out of our bathtubs. I know which is best for our hearts !
But I hope you all have a good time ; it's the turkeys that I feel sorry for !
Cheers
Ian
Syncope
by Hetty - 2014-11-29 02:11:47
Hi just thought I would let you know what Doctors said about my syncope episode Doctor though it was due to blood pressure or dehydrated because shower room to hot and just said drink more water at least 5 glasses a day! And keep eye on blood pressure so bought a new blood pressure monitor also I am following doctors orders and have started to drink more water and see if that does the trick.

Blood pressure

I am not a medical profession so I hope I explain this correctly. Remember, vasovagal syncope comes with a drop blood pressure and a drop in heart rate. I know that's why I need a pacemaker and medication for blood pressure. So the pacemaker only helps with the heart rate and not the blood pressure.
My guess is that since you have a cold you were a bit dehydrated which can cause issues with your blood pressure. I have learned when you get sick you really need concentrate on keeping up your sodium and fluid intake.
