Has anyone experienced this? I was very active positive upbeat person. I had it put in due to very low heartbeat. Had ablation in 2012 did not work had freeze done in 2009 to slow over 300 beats a min episode so now flipped from ab to flutter and low heartbeat I. 30s to low 40's. Going to first pacemaker appointment this Thursday. Have Medtronic Mir compatible two leads. I feel like it is set to low or something just wondering anyone else had this or when they put the PM in about adjusting?? They said it would recalebrate to me... Is this something others have experience with please share. Thank you

They adjust

They do tweaking after the PM is put in. First thing they have to do is to find out what your heart is going to do. Once they've established that they'll make changes accordingly.
While it may not feel that way for you, it's a shock to your system when they put in the PM. You've got both and upswing and a downswing and they have to see what will happen. Your heart is going wacko because it's being driven by the PM.
For me, it went the other way. My heart started beating faster and faster so they had to slow it down with medication. That's the upswing part. The medication was the downswing. Then they used the PM to bring everything to a "normal" setting. After a while (because of afib) I had them turn on an afib setting because it wasn't being addressed with the normal settings. So there was a lot of tweaking during the first few months.
Try, as much as you can, to remain upbeat. Just have patience (which I know is hard) and keep thinking things will get better.
Keep as active as you can - obviously if you feel lousy it's really hard to do that. Drink water and keep warm. Read positive type books (if you are a reader) and watch positive TV shows and movies. At this time you don't need any doom and gloom.
There were times I thought things would never get better, but they finally did. Hang in there.
Hope you get some help soon. My best wishes go out for you.

Welcome to our exclusive club. ;-)
I have the same PM you do, Medtronic MRI compatible, double lead. When they put it in, it was definitely set too low. I believe it was 50. Before I was "sick" my HR was typically around 80. The low end is now set to 60 which is much better for me than 50. I had a lot of trouble adjusting physically to the PM. Lots of tweeking those first few weeks. I was exhausted. I was experiencing all sorts of weird feelings in my chest. It just seemed like an unmitigated disaster.
But then the great healer TIME saved the day. I have gotten better every month and I'm rapidly closing in on an entire year since I got my PM.
So yes, others have experienced what you're going through. And I'm confident you'll be feeling much better before you know.
All the best.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.
Thanks
