Infected?

Hey guys I'm 4 days out from having my pm put in. Yesterday I noticed I was getting red around the incision. I'm a nurse so I know that's pretty common and to be expected after trauma... However today it's red in a much larger area n hot to the touch. I'm on antibiotics and I don't have a fever.... Should I be concerned?

I would be a little concerned, yes. Hopefully it's just healing but the combination of larger area and hot to the touch is suspicious. I'd push for a culture just to be on the safe side. Usually they'll blow you off or maybe switch up the antibiotic but culture is the only way to really know quickly if you're treating it correctly. Early detection is key if it is infection so I wouldn't mess around, no matter how small the symptom. Good luck!!
