Having surgery Thursday

I am having a pm put in Thursday. I have Atrial Flutter and tacky/Brady syndrome. although probably medicine induced. I have to be on channel blockers because of my rhythm and they tank my hr down In the 40's. So that's a terrible time and dr says this is the only thing to fix it. Alabation for the fluter is not a option as I have to many areas.
Anyways I somewhat nervous about this and looking for recovery time frames.
Thanks :)

Similar Case

Had my implant 10 weeks ago. Similar background. Procedure went well with no complications. About 2-3 days with soreness and wearing sling most of the time; then 2 weeks highly restricted activity, no lifting, maybe some with opposite arm, 4 more weeks being careful then sorta forget about it. Now do about anything I want to.... of course at 85 my 'want tos' ain't what they used to be.

Second opinion for ablation

by pioxen - 2014-10-08 07:10:07

Shagood, If your doctor is saying an ablation is not possible due to too many areas get a second opinion. I had atrial fib and flutter and had 5 ablations to correct. The ablation kept returning and I had pretty much given up hope it could be surgically corrected. I went to see Dr. James Ong in southern California. He did a 4 hour ablation of my heart and I've been fib and flutter free for almost 3 years. There ARE good cardiac doctors out there, but for flutter problems you need to see a good electrophysiologist. Don't take no for an answer...it can be cured....

Thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I am of course nervous. I consider myself to young for this nonsense at 46 lol.
I also should mention I have the added complication of pulmonary hypertension. Thats one of the reasons he really don't want to try to ablate 5 areas.
I have been off the channel blocker for 2 weeks and my heart rate remains in the low, low 50's so the beta blocker may be enough..... I sure hope so

Thanks everyone!

Just wanted to add my well wishes for tomorrow.

It's normal to be nervous but you will most likely feel so much better with the PM.

Try and get some sleep. :-)
