Well...had my first checkup today since PM. I cannot believe what a difference I feel already. I feel AWAKE! RN in clinic did the checkup. She said my PM is "pacing" 55% of the time in the SA node and only 1% in the AV. (My low is at 50 resting/60 with activity). I hope that makes sense. So, her comment was "no wonder you feel better". What this tells me is I needed the PM. I sure had doubts going in, but this is confirmation for me. I have been getting about 7-8 hours of sleep at night, feel rested when I get up and haven't felt the need to lay down and "snooze" during the day several times. I don't feel 100% yet but I am so much better. I went walking for an hour the other day at the mall and felt like my heart was beating really fast, checked it and it was 78 so I sat down a while and it came down to 60. Am I going to feel like that forever? I am a runner and that's how I used to feel after a run. I was hoping I had at least one more marathon in me, but maybe not. Any runners out there for some feedback?

Adjustment
by Gotrhythm - 2014-11-20 02:11:32
Glad you're feeling better and are now sure the PM was needed.
Now you are in a period of adjustment as you and your heart get used to having a device that provides your heartbeat at least some of the time. And it may take several tweaks to get you PMs settings at the optimal for you.
In the meantime, a pulse of 78 isn't "fast." iAlthough it might feel fast to you, t's really about normal for walking around. Unless you have other symptoms like SOB, chest pain, or feelings of exhaustion, there's no need to sit down. Nothing has gone wrong.
You are still very new to the ranks of PM wearers. Give yourself some time to get your strength back, but as TKG says, "Keep moving."
You know you're wired when...
Your device makes you win at the slot machines.

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.
Euphoric mode

You're in the euphoric mode. Not a bad feeling. Everything is clicking, more oxygen, strong heartbeat, feeling good.
It will wear off a little bit, for some people a lot. Main thing to remember is to keep moving forward.
Remember not to raise the arm above the shoulder on the PM side. Don't lift anything over 10 pounds on the PM side. Keep the arm moving, nothing strenuous. Until the six week period I wouldn't run. Others may have a different opinion on running.
I'd do the mall walking. Keep it up gradually increasing every day. The more you keep moving the better you'll feel.
Glad everything went so well. Always glad to hear a good report.
