Six weeks ago I had a Hystrectomy, when I woke up the cardio doctors were trying to decide if a PC was needed. It was decided that maybe it was temporary. It was not. Yesterday I got a PC, I am 43 on no meds other that the pain meds and antibotics for PC. Today, the St. Jude rep came in to review and said my PC was pacing 30% over night. While reading, I started sweating a lot . I got calming and had to lay back down. He then put the devise again to make sure my HR was still normal. It was 72. He said his reader would not cause sweating. Anyone have that issue? I am new to all this and thank you for any answers in advance. Chelley

Tests

Hi!
They usually perform at least two tests during an interrogation: one is to check for the so called "sensitivity" and one is for the "threshold". These tests are important to make sure that the pacemaker "sees" everything it should (electrical signals that your heart is able to produce on its own) and that it stimulates effectively (electrical impulse it sends is strong enough to induce a heartbeat). For the first test the heart rate is slowed down, for the second it is increased. I would assume that it was probably during these tests that you started sweating. Many patients do not feel comfortable when having them done. Some feel the slowing down and speeding up, others just get dizzy or lightheaded. When they slow my rate down, I always feel a bad pressure in my head.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I sweat
by valley01 - 2014-10-02 08:10:04
I had 3 surgeries in the past year and after each one I would sweat like crazy, especially at night while I was sleeping. Some nights I had to get up in the middle of the night and change my pajamas and once I even had to dry my hair and change the bedsheets at 3am. I have heard it is an effect of the anesthesia and can last several monthes??? I'm not sure if that is a fact but it was temporary and went away within a couple of months of each surgery.
maybe???

Maybe you are having hot flashes. Forced menopause can do that. I have been menopausal for 5 years and still get hot flashes. But I would check and make sure.

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
Not uncommon

Out of curiosity I did a Google search on this topic. Apparently it is not uncommon to experience sweating after surgery. This is a quote taken from a blog post, "the anesthesia effects your hypothalamus...which in turn effects your body temp."
Hope this helps.
