I think I may have messed up

I am turning 21 in less than a week. I had a pacemaker implanted in 2012 when I was 18. I vowed to myself that I would not let this define me as the "guy with a pacemakeer". I went to my follow up check and sent in a reading at the 3 month mark. Then I lost insurance for a while and then got too busy! I now work at oreilly auto parts and they don't know that I have a pacemaker. Lately, It seems as if my heart is racing! I live 5 hours from my pacemaker doctor and am a student so I cannot just drop everything and make a trip! I am going to a primary care doctor. I hope he will set me up with a doctor that is a lot closer to me! But my question is how easy is it to switch doctors like that???

Changing Doctors is Easy

I fired my Primary Care Physician a little over a year ago. It was quite easy to change doctors.

I told my insurance company that I wanted to transfer to another doctor. The previous doctor electronically sent my records/information to the new doctor. I didn't have to do anything except go to the new doctor for my initial visit.

It is something you really need to do! Call your insurance company, find out who you can go to, do a little research on that doctor to make sure he/she is good, then do it!!

Good luck!

Thanks guys

The only problem with getting seen now is the hospital in the area just sorta glances over my pacemaker. They will ask me why I have one and I told them that it is because I went in for a physical to play baseball and my heart was beating at 40 beats per minute! I felt like my normal self but the doctor said that I should be passed out on the floor? But back anyway they say I'm too young for a pacemaker and don't look at it again when I hit 90 bpm pulse. I just didn't want to be the " guy with a pacemaker".

It's really hard to fire the er at the only hospital in the town, I went there because I thought my appendix was out of wack but saw my pulse was like 90- 100 and told them it should never be that high and they just kinda shrugged it off like it was normal!
