muscle twitching

My brother in law just had a pacemaker installed 2 days ago and has muscle twitching. He shakes almost like he's cold, but isn't. They're checking him now, but if it's a lead problem, or placement, how do they fix this?

You haven't given us very much information about his condition. What were his problems before getting the PM, what medications was he on before, what new medications did he get after getting the PM. Is he allergic to anything, was there any trauma involved before getting the PM, what? How long is the twitching, is it mild, intermittent, what? Could be a reaction to anesthesia too. All of that can factor into causing him to twitch.

Usually placement of the leads and PM don't automatically cause a person to start twitching.

Could be a lot of things

As Theknotguy said, could be several different things.

Could also just be his body adjusting to the intrusion, PM laying against a nerve, irritating the muscle, etc.

Best thing to do is take to the doctor who put it in.

Good luck and keep us posted please.

I am one month post op and had face twitching and SEVERE shooting nerve pain up my neck and in my chest. My electrophysiologist said it wasnt "pacemaker related" BS my chiropractor and primary care DR both stated that I "never had this happen until after PM implanted" but the electrophysiologist pawned me off to a neurologist. This completely disappeared after 3 weeks and have canx my apt with neuro. hope this helps
