Lead Extraction and Disney World

In the next two weeks, I am having a St. Jude Lead extracted. I am also going to Disney World in 8 weeks. I wanted to check to see how everyone felt after a lead extraction. My doctor gave me the green light, but I'm nervous about such a demanding trip so soon.

I had a lead capped and another lead inserted about two years ago . (Yes, second St. Jude lead to fail). I was back to work in about a week. Just wanted to get some other people's thoughts.

And feeling fine. Fortunately my lead was only 15 months old and none of the possible complications eventuated, although the preparation for all eventualities was impeccable. 2 night hospital stay and now home with normal restrictions on lifting arm etc.
As long as everything goes smoothly you should be fine after 6 weeks. For me it wasn't as bad as the original implant, because it was just a lead replacement, so there is no adjustment to the actual pacing. Recovering from the anaesthetic and the other drugs was the main issue, and even that wasn't too bad. Pocket is a little tender but nothing to complain about really.
Good luck - I'm sure you'll be fine!

Staying on Property?

If you are staying on Disney property it is easy to take a break and go to your room for a rest. Weather will still be warm by your standards. Typically in October we have highs in the low 80's or upper 70's. The center part of the State, where Disney is located, may still be getting some afternoon thunderstorms; they don't usually last all afternoons, but you can never tell.

Disney is great about having locations where you can take a break. If you have a smart phone, download the disney maps, they will really help you.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Royale. We've been planning this trip forever and I really didn't want to disappoint the kids.

Thanks AngrySparrow for the advice. I updated my profile with my information. I attempted to add it when I registered but it keep erroring out, so I just kept the basics to get in.

Disney

Ditto Lurch's comments. I would recommend staying on property if possible so you can take a break if needed. I do that every trip regardless. Disney is tiring! Temps come down in Oct so it should be comfortable by Nov.

From what I've heard, I don't think extraction healing is much different from the original placement, the main thing will be babying the new leads. You should feel fine but you might want to take it easy on the rides. Just because walking around feels good doesn't mean Space Mountain will.
